What's Wrong With This Plant?
Florida has become "pleasingly plump" with happy homeowners fleeing the chilly North — the homeland of yellow-gold forsythia, towering Norway spruce, and the dainty crocus that slivers its way through a late-fallen snow to greet the long-awaited spring.
But, in this fair land of sunshine, even the most polished gardener feels a bit tarnished when confronted by the glittering array of Florida plant and insect life.
The first question is usually, "What should I plant and where do I put it?" After acquiring the plants and digging the holes comes." Will anything grow in this dirt'?" After a few weeks, we get. "When do I fertilize and with what?" In a few months it's "How do I prune this thing'? It's getting bigger than the house!" Then ultimately comes the big one, What are those little white things all over my plant; why are the leaves shriveling up?"
Do these questions sound a little too familiar? Well, don't feel lonely, I've talked to thousands with the same problems. Sometimes I've felt like a Dear Abby" of the garden world.
To help you in your gardening, I will come to your club or organization and present an entertaining talk explaining the remedies for all the aches and pains your plants might get, along with other hints on propagating, planting, pruning, choosing the right plant, and well, you get the picture.
The talk is a free service of Mac Perry's Lawn Guard. Just get together a group of fifteen or more people and contact me for a date and time. Please include your name and phone number in the email.
